LESTER HOLT (65) is stepping down as anchor of the NBC “Nightly News” broadcast after a decade as the "black face" of the network’s flagship broadcast.Holt said he would be expanding his work on NBC’s “Dateline,” taking on a full-time role.
We have nothing against Lester Holt. In fact, we have no feelings about Lester Holt -- good or bad. He seems like an agreeable, non-threatening weekend anchor, who keeps the seat warm for their high-profile, highly compensated co-worker.
And that is exactly what his role was for 8 years on "Nightly News" until NBC fired its golden boy BRIAN WILLIAMS (65) for telling lies about himself on the air, off the air and everywhere else.
NBC was facing all kind of bad publicity at the time, so they gave the job to good 'ole Lester. Now that the political winds have shifted, NBC News wants more lively, relatable personalities.
Holt's bland, lukewarm personality is why he as able to survive in the corporate media industry for 40+ years -- and it's most likely the reason Mr. Holt is stepping down before he gets fired like his former colleague at MSNBC, JOY REID (56).
Ironically, Mrs. Reid, unlike Holt, was arguably the loudest, most agressive, highest-profile cheerleader for the MSNBC cable networks's far-left white liberal agenda. She worked five times as many days a week than her outspoken white lesbian co-worker, RACHEL MADDOW (51), and for a tenth of Maddow's salary.
In the end, however, MSNBC fired Reid on her day off.
