Rep. JAMES CLYBURN (82), one of South Carolina’s most powerful Democrats, secretly worked with Republicans in 2020 to dilute the strength of the black vote. This made it harder for his party to gain seats in Congress, but it guaranteed that Clyburn would be able to comfortably win his own seat in Congress for as long as he wanted to.
