KENNETH VICTOR PAYNE (57), who made "history" in 2022 as the University of Louisville's first African-American men's basketball coach, has been fired two years into his six-year $20 million contract after compiling a 12-52 record. Smith's tenure was the same length of the Cardinals' probation after a 2017 FBI investigation revealed widespread corruption in the program, which included providing sex workers for star recruits.
