Hall of Fame professional baseball player WILLIE HOWARD MAYS JR. (93) passed away on Tuesday according to a statement released by the San Francisco Giants. Mays son, Michael, says his father "passed away peacefully and among loved ones."

Mays started his career with the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro American League in 1948 and played with them until the Giants signed him after his graduation from high school in 1950.
