City of Oakland
LEIGH HANSON (??) (pictured top right), a high-ranking Oakland City Hall official, who served as chief of staff for disgraced ex-mayor, SHENG THAO (39) (pictured left), was fired after hand-written notes she took in a meeting last year surfaced outlining a "rough blueprint" of ways to fight the recall of Mayor Thao, who was forced to resign from office and is now under federal indictment for bribery.
One four-word notation fromn the March 4, 2024 meeting said: “Use BP as tokens,” which refers to the use of African-Americans as political pawns or "tokens".
Hanson, who stayed on to work for Councilmember KEVIN JENKINS (??) when he was elevated to the role of interim mayor after Thao’s recall, was terminated on Sunday -- effective immediately.
Hanson spent several years working with big city Mayors, most recently as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Economic Development for Pittsburgh Mayor WILLIAM PEDUTO (60).
