Officer NOLAN SLEDGE (26) called police on August 19, 2023, and threatened to commit suicide. He then took his off-duty gun and fired a single shot into his shoulder. Sledge, who was hired by the Memphis Police Department on April 1, 2019, resigned amid an internal investigation five years later after he admitted that he shot himself on purpose to gain attention from his girlfriend. The couple had argued with the day before.
