"We started beta testing Facebook's paid subscription service after META's artificial intelligence kept randomly flagging our content as unsafe," says publisher BAYER L. MACK (52) of the new offering. "On my birthday, they flagged a post for promoting drugs, suicide, violence and sexually suggestive content. It was a photo of a model's face."
"We were getting nowhere with customer service. Our videos were de-monetized and at one point our page was in danger of being deleted. So, we decided to try putting certain content in a private Facebook group that's pay-for-access. Like most things with META, it was little quirky at first, but now we've got a solid strategy. I'm excited."
Mack says that in addition to behind-the-scenes-content, extra photos and videos of its popular models, Mack says content behind the Nd UNLOCKED paywall will include original films, documentaries and webseries produced by his company Block Starz Music Television, which produced the award-winning documentaries Oscar Micheaux: The Czar of Black Hollywood, No Lye: An American Beauty Story and the Black Seeds: The History of Africans in America trilogy.
"We're going to hit the ground running with apparel, merchandise and original content, like Sheol's Revenge and The Gay Mafia, that will be exclusive to Nd UNLOCKED members. It's gonne be fun."
