SHAMSUD DIN JABBAR (42) has been identified as the suspect who intentionally rammed his vehicle into New Orleans revelers early on New Year's Day according to senior law enforcement officials.

Jabber, who was reportedly killed in a gunfire exchange with police, was a U.S. citizen born in Texas. A property manager by profession, Jabbar was recently divorced and in debt. Authorities say he had a black flag, that is commonly associated with the terrorist group ISIS, affixed to the hitch of the pickup truck he drove into the crowd on Bourbon St. around 3:15 a.m, injuring 35 people and killing 15. 

The incident is being investigated both as a terrorist attack and a crime scene, federal and local officials said.
